Merry Christmas from the B'Tru Band!

We had a blast! GTwo Fun Pub held a Christmas Eve Party and there were lots and lots of prizes given away. Thanks to CARLSBERG for all the prizes.

They have great special menu only on Christmas Eve (didn't know about it till Jarryco wanted to order food and they said they have "special" menu!)

We reached the pub 5 minutes to 9pm (we never came late but somehow the traffic was really really bad on the way to work!).

Lucky for us the management started the night with some "drinking beer in shot glasses" game. There were 4 people in a group. And these 4 people need to drink beer in shot glasses.. There were many shot glasses that i don't have time to count :)

The fastest group to finish the beer won some prizes courtesy of Carlsberg.

After a couple of games, we started performing our 1st set. The sound was terrible but we performed like there's nothing else matters.

Many of the regulars turned up. Zack & Evelyn came. The group of Susan and Vincent came too. Mr. Ganeson & Clement were also there. Ben, Ian & Karen turned up (even though they came late but it's ok). Dee was there too.

And as usual, Jarryco and Bob came (they had to leave early though cos they have another meeting somewhere else!)

Our 1st break was about 40 minutes. During our break, the management did a few other games which is very interesting. The best game was the "Pass the seaweed"!  And then there's "Guess the Word" game, and a few other games too (this time we were busy chatting and chatting :)

We started our 2nd set at 10:45pm till 11:30pm. We did a lot of party songs. Then we had a really short break (10minutes only) before we went up again for our last set. We started again at 11:45, sang a few requested songs, especially TIADA LAGI (our national anthem), and 5 minutes to 12 midnight we stopped and called all the big bosses to come up on stage to do the countdown (CHRISTMAS also got COUNTDOWN meh? Hmmm?).... so ok, strike 12, WE WISHED MERRY CHRISTMAS to the crowd and blow the horns and partay!!!! WOOHOO....

After the countdown, we said good night but the management had one more last game (i think it was "Musical Chair" before they did the LUCKY DRAW!

When we finished, we packed our things and blow horns again and again and again!!!! ;-P

Merry Christmas 2008

Tomorrow is Christmas Eve.

GTwo Fun Pub will be having a Christmas Eve Party with lots of fun and games. 

The party starts at 4pm, with Alvin performing at 5:30pm. As usual B'Tru Band will perform at 9pm till 12am.

Come and celebrate Christmas Eve and have a blast with us, if you have no place to go!

Audition

We had an audition last Friday, 5 December 2008.

The place will be known as "The Place" since i'm not ready to expose "the place" yet!

note : as long as there is no black and white (contract), i will not reveal the name of the place!

We've played at "The Place" last year, and so basically the management knew James and me. But since we had Seri and Andy only this year, we had to do the audition!

The audition went well (performance wise!).

During soundchecking, it was great. Clear and easy to sing. We started the audition at 3pm when the GM walked in. But when we started singing, the soundman put down the sound and it makes us all having a hard time singing. WTF? 

We sang our hearts out, impressing the management. 

After audition, James had a discussion. They wanted us to start in January 2009, but since we just signed extension contract at Kelab Puchong United and would only be free by April 2009, "The Place" had no choice but to get another band for the next 3 months. 

When we left, it was confirmed that B'Tru Band will be performing at "The Place" in April 2009.

BUT like i said earlier, no contract, i wouldn't reveal the name of the place YET!

In the meantime, keep watching/reading this blog to know "THE PLACE!" :)

We're Extended for another 3 months!

Congratulations to B'Tru Band!

Whether u like it or not, we're extended for another 3 months.

Yes, we already signed the extension contract. The extension will be till end of March 2009.

We knew about our contract extension since early November 2008. It was only verbal. No black and white. I dare not write it/tell the people that we're extended. Luckily, last Tuesday, 2nd December 2008, they called James for a meeting. It only took about 30 minutes only. 

With the new extension contract, we'll be working 6 days (including Saturday) start January 2009. The time remains the same, 9pm - 12am. 

For those who support us all these while, thanks a lot!

Private Dinner Function went well...

Our performance last night (8 November 2008) at the PORAM Annual Dinner function in One World Hotel went smooth and full of comedy.

There was a Datuk as a guest of honour. The Datuk is a Minister of ????? something! (hehehe... sorry i forgotten the name!)

Although we had some technical problems with the music (i fully blame the soundman for not giving us the best sound), but everything were fixed in just a few seconds.

1st set (during dinner), we played a couple of slow sentimental songs followed by an upbeat numbers. 

After 45 minutes performing, it was time for the guest Artiste to perform on stage. 

Guest artiste was Winnie Kok and her 6 dancers.

1 hour later, we went up to start our 2nd set. 

The 2nd set was a little bit 'kan cheong'.

We went up on stage when the emcee announcing that we're performing again for our 2nd set. After starting our 1st number (a chinese song by Beyond), halfway singing, the emcee suddenly signing to us to stop the music. 

WTF?

So we put down the music, and found out that the emcee wants to announce that the Minister / Datuk wanted to go home! Again WTF. Supposed the Emcee announced the departure of the Datuk BEFORE we go up on stage! 

We hang out at the stairs of the stage when the emcee announcing that the Datuk nak balik. OK lar... So the Datuk make a move, then our function booker came and said, "OKAY, you all can go back!" and we THOUGHT "yeay, we can go home!" and it was only 10:45pm (by right we supposed to finish at 11:30pm) but actually he meant to say "GO BACK ON STAGE!"..... kah kah kah, kui kui kui (see note at the end of the post) !!!

We went back on stage, most of the people started to leave already (that's the best thing about Corporate Annual Dinner, they NEVER stay late!!!), so after about 4 songs, we said good night, adios, bye-bye!

We finished at about 5 minutes after 11pm.  

owh and before we went home, they gave us each a goodie bag from PORAM containing 2 bars of MAY soap, 1 bottle of Lia Sari shampoo, 1 cd casing and 1 mug!

Note:

Kui Kui Kui was the name of the Minister.... Datuk sumthing sumthing KUI. Sorry lar datuk, i couldn't recall your name.

8th November 2008 DINNER FUNCTION

Saturday has always been our off day at GTwo Fun Pub (formerly known as Golden Gate Pub & Restaurant).

But tonight, we're having a private dinner function at One World Hotel (next to One Utama). 

It'll be a 2 sets function, 5 piece B'Tru Band (including brader JO). Our performance will start at 8:30pm.

This function has been booked since 2 months ago by one of our event booker, Mr. Santana

Note:

we're always free to be booked by any event management booker for any private dinner functions.

Halloween Night. 31 October 2008

According to Along (the Pub captain), this year's Halloween Night Party is the FIRST to be held at the pub since the Kelab opened.

A few weeks before Halloween, we sat down with Along discussing about the party. We came out with some ideas (games, mini shows) but Along told me they don't have the budget to decorate the pub. All they did was making it dark (no lights on!), and they bought small pumpkins, and the chef carved them and they put candles in the pumpkin and display them on the tables. The staffs wore mask and costumes (white sheet covered with red stains).

Along was quite nervous to find out the reaction of the guests (especially the regular customers). 

BUT, turns out that.....

we had great fun and the best crowd on Halloween Night Party at Golden Gate Pub, Kelab Puchong United, 31st October 2008 (Friday).

When we finished our 1st set at 9:45pm, more people started to come. It was already crowded and hot in the pub. 

By the time we started again our 2nd set at 10:10pm, after a couple of songs, we did some games. The prize - discount vouchers.

We finished our work at 12:15am.  The crowd were still drinking and dancing and partying. 

We were so so so tired.
